Bambounou – Parsons EP | DJ Mag

Parisian artist Bambounou first broke through in the early 2010s with a singular sound that meshed aspects of bass music and techno. By contrast, ‘Parsons’, his Aus debut, is very much in the house mode, with three of his finest creations to date. The opener ‘D33P’ has enveloping synth pads, solid drums and submerged vocal samples, but its moody bassline will cut through any system. ‘I can send you to space’ ups the funk quotient, with swung beats, congas and galactic chords. Best of all is ‘Parsons’, which feels like a modern update on the original filtered French touch sound. The four bar bassline could wake the dead, while the disco samples and chords take it into the realms of the classic.
