Having only made his debut release on the dance music circuit at the start of 2022, Chinese DJ/producer ZHANGYE has already stunned with his melodic influence over deeply dance-worthy beats and even caught the attention of Dimitri Vegas and Quintino.
Celebrating his second release, uplifting single ‘Wherever The Wind Blows‘ featuring respected vocalist KARRA, we caught up with ZHANGYE to find out which tracks have had the biggest influence on his musical journey so far.
Sebastian Ingrosso, Alesso – Reload
This is obviously an all-time classic but I truly love the melody. It’s simplicity is very appealing yet the story it tells is very energetic and unifying.
The vocal is amazing and whenever you play this record it brings people together and creates that ultimate hands-up moment that everyone always longs for.
Avicii – Levels
Timeless melody and amazing energy and the vocal of Etta James is an amazing fit. It was a no-brainer to include this within the list
Calvin Harris, Disciples – How Deep Is Your Love
This record I feel has made house music mainstream within the era it was released. It crossed over to radio worldwide and everything to the arrangement is so good – it all falls into place really well and keeps the listener entertained with very small edits/instruments and additions every time. A masterpiece in every way and something I really admire Calvin for.
Avicii – Hey Brother
Another Avicii record in this list but I couldn’t keep this one out. A bold move to incorporate country music into house/dance, and I remember when this was released that so many people were very sceptical. In the end it turned out to be one of Avicii’s biggest hits and it’s a song everybody will dance to or knows the lyrics to. In my opinion, one of the key elements to this success is the fact that a good song will always prevail, no matter what, which is essentially the case with this record.

The in-depth emotions carried out through the melody tear people up. Both the choice of musical instruments selected and construction of the harmonic interval are very skilful and impressive. With so few instruments employed, it was able to produce such orchestral depth and variety.
